Gingrich = All Republicans…What?

Gloria Borger (Photo: CNN) Does Gloria Borger of CNN do any research at all? Or even attempt to back up her opinions? Her latest post on CNN.com declares “Republicans Twittering away credibility.” A bold statement. With no facts behind it. Oops, guess the “Analyst” part of her title doesn’t mean she actually has to analyze anything.

Borger’s only evidence that Republicans are destroying their credibility is in that former House Speaker Newt Gingrinch was not nice enough to President Obama after the successful conclusion of the pirate hostage situation.

Gingrich was micro-blogging on Twitter about the Somali pirate situation this past weekend. Gingrich stated that not dealing with the pirates makes the US “look weak.” After the successful rescue he then gave a congratulations to the SEAL team, the Navy, and directly to President Obama.

This wasn’t enough for Obama-crazed sheep, though. Gingrich didn’t kneel down and beg for forgiveness from their ruler. How dare he?!

Back to Borger – Gloria stated that Republicans are losing credibility. So, who are the other Republicans she found who acted so wrongfully? Anyone? Not a single other Republican is quoted, named, or even referred to in this horrible piece of journalism.

Oh, and for the record. I do want to give a sincere “Job well done” to Obama. This was the right move, and I am proud he made it. Oops, I just blogged away my credibility.

Books: The New Thing from Borders (Penny Arcade)

Just took a peak at one of the recent Penny Arcade strips. It explains perfectly the silliness of the obsession over Amazon.com’s Kindle.

If you haven’t heard of Penny Arcade I highly suggest taking a gander at their huge archive of web comics. They focus on gaming and technology, but hit other topics frequently as well. And Tycho’s commentary is always a joy to read (vocabulary, anyone?).

Introducing Rock Iowa

rockiowatv.gif I had the pleasure to meet the Rock Iowa folks last night at their Market Street Media Foundry location. For those who do not know, Rock Iowa is an up-and-coming cultural and musical media network of news, reviews, artist profiles, videos, and photos from events here in Iowa. They currently have two sites – the main RockIowa.com and RockIowa.tv where a variety of very interesting videos are posted.

This team of unique individuals has some huge goals and plans for the future of both Rock Iowa and for the arts in Iowa. A new website design is forthcoming with a new look and and all-new structure.

Hopefully I’ll be able to get to know these guys and gals better in the future. I have also offered my web design and marketing knowledge to help them grow. So, go on over to their site and check out Rock Iowa!

It’s Here. Can We Get On With It Now?

Yes, the day has finally arrived. Obama’s inauguration as the 44th president. I congratulate him for a well-run campaign and for the immense amount of class and respect he has displayed these past few months. We all know that I was not a fan of Obama. There is still no one out there that has given me a suitable answer to “What has he done?” But, he was elected by the American people, and to that I say congrats.

The past two weeks have been gradually getting worse and worse, though. It seems that every television station is in love with Obama. CNN, MSNBC, sure – I expected that! But Disney Channel? PBS? These stations have been hyping the inauguration as if it has never happened before (I guess it’s been a long time since the last one, 4 years!). Yes, Barak Obama is the first black president, and maybe he will make a good change, but the level of coverage for this event is astounding!

Four years ago President Bush was harassed by Congressmen and the media for spending more money than any previous President on his inauguration. This year, in a diminishing economy, President-Elect Obama has blown Bush’s record away! An estimated $150 million for parties, galas, and events. I’m sure there are excusers out there already: “But he’s the first black president! He’s the people’s president! Oprah loves him!” Fine, use race as the excuse. And cool, I wish Oprah loved me, too. However, I consider him to be the 44th in a line of leaders, not the 1st African American; his race doesn’t factor into my feelings toward him.

The slanted and biased view of a large portion of the media drives me nuts. And anyone that brings this up is labeled an “extremist” or “racist,” then told to sit down and shut up by what I loudly label the Extreme Left. If you’re so liberal and open to others’ ideals, then why can’t you listen to mine with some respect?

I have great hope for Mr. Obama. He appears to be a person willing to at least listen to differing viewpoints. That’s a starting point.

A message to our new President: “Good luck, President Obama. Continue with your classy ways and we will follow you.”
